What is the Success Rate for Dental Implants?

Dental implants are undoubtedly one of the more fascinating procedures we perform here in our office. Many patients experience anxiety over the procedure and, as dental professionals, we do our best to calm fears and educate our patients about the details of dental implants, both here in our Patient Education Center and when our patients come into our office for a free consultation.

We want our patients to understand that the success rate for dental implants is very high. The Journal of Oral Implantology claims that the success rate is well above 90%, and we’ve witnessed success rates as high as 93-96%.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a treatment with a success rate of 100%, and dental implants are no different. In the end, there are a few major risk factors that can play a role in the success of dental implants:

1. Grinding teeth (known as bruxism)

2. Diabetes

3. Smoking

When patients reduce their risk factors and fully embrace our dental implant treatment plan, we’ve found that the vast majority of dental implant treatments are successful (and we’ve been performing this procedure in San Diego for well over a decade).

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a free consultation, please contact our team or make an appointment and our incredible staff will give you the best dental care possible.
